Chelsea have been linked with a move for another Bundesliga star in the shape of Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.
They have already agreed to meet the £54 million release clause for Timo Werner from RB Leipzig, but now want to unite him with another young German talent in Havertz, who already has seven full German caps to his name.
The 20 year old is likely to be a man in demand this summer, with both Bayern Munich and Real Madrid also in the hunt for him, but Chelsea are determined to make up for lost time when it comes to strengthening their squad.
Last summer they served a transfer embargo after breaching FIFA regulations, whilst in January, they failed to make any signings, although they subsequently agreed a deal to acquire winger Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.
Havertz has found the net four times for Leverkusen since the resumption of the Bundesliga but was omitted from the squad that lost to Bayern Munich at the weekend.
