Manchester United have now made Aston Villa captain their main summer transfer target.
The Premier League club have long been linked with a move for England winger Jadon Sancho, but with Borussia Dortmund unwilling to shift on their £100 million valuation of the 20 year old, that is out of United’s reach in the current financial climate.
And, although United recently took out a £140 million loan to help fund their summer transfer activity, spending nearly all of it on one player is regarded as unwise when there are other areas of the team that need improvement.
Grealish himself has been valued at £80 million by his club but that was prior to the shutdown. Now with Villa facing severe financial problems of their own because of the Covod-19 pandemic, there is a hope they may be willing to compromise as they look for ways to bolster their own cash flow.
