Whilst Jadon Sancho remains top of Manchester United’s wish list this summer, they have been looking at alternatives in case the England winger proves too hard to get, with questions over his affordability in the current financial climate.
And one name now under active consideration is teenager Thiago Almado, who plays for Argentinian side Velez Sarsfield.
Almado was linked with a move to the Premier League last year and Manchester City, but opted instead to sign a contract extension with his current club. However, he is once more back on the radar of European clubs after a string of impressive club performances, scoring six goals and providing two assists before the Argentine season was suspended because of the coronavirus outbreak.
One advantage that Almado boasts in his favour is his versatility – he can play either on the right-wing or up front in the middle. He is a few months younger than Sancho and his price tag will be substantially less.
