Nigerian striker Odion Ighalo has agreed to extend his loan spell with Manchester United until January 2021.
The 30 year old’s initial loan at Old Trafford ended on May 31st, and he was due to head back to his parent club Shanghai Shenhua, who wanted him to return in time for the Chinese Super League season that is about to restart.
However, now a deal has been struck which will keep him at United until next January, when the two clubs will revisit his position,
Under the agreement, which is still subject to FA approval, United will pay a loan fee to Shanghai, and also pick up a portion of his wages.
Ighalo was signed at the last minute on transfer deadline day by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer in January, but had already made a favourable impression before the suspension of the season, scoring four goals in eight appearances for them.
