It is claimed that PSG are close to agreeing a deal to sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Arsenal for a fee of €38 million (£34 million).
The 30 year old Arsenal captain has one year left on his current contract at the Emirates. However, having turned down the offer of a new deal, the Gunners are determined not to repeat previous mistakes, and are prepared to sell him, rather than let him leave for free in 12 months’ time.
And, with their own transfer budget likely to be greatly reduced in the summer because of the financial impact of the coronavirus, they could use the money to help Mikel Arteta rebuild his squad.
Whilst Aubameyang is set to prefer a move to Real Madrid, in the current climate they may not be able to afford him, something that is not a problem for PSG with their wealthy backers.
And the French champions do have their attractions though, including guaranteed Champions League football and the chance to line-up alongside the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
