Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana could be set to move the short distance across the city to Goodison Park in the summer when his contract runs out in a month’s time.
The 32 year old’s current deal at Anfield expires on June 30th, and he is set to leave the club in search of regular first team football. He has been linked with Leicester City and, whilst they remain the favourites to sign him, they are not the only club to express an interest in him, with Arsenal West Ham and Everton also monitoring his situation.
However, now Everton have also emerged as a surprise destination for the England international, although he has existing ties to the club. He supported Everton as a boy, and his father is a lifelong supporter of them.
Whilst it is not unknown for players to move from one Merseyside club to another is not unknown, it is comparatively rare, the last example being defender Abel Xavier, and that was 18 years ago.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
