With Angel Gomes set to leave Manchester United when his contract expires in June, Chelsea look like they are ready to pounce for the teenager.
Gomes has been at United since he was six, but has turned down a new contract worth £30,000, because he wants assurances about first-team football at Old Trafford, having just made a handful of first team appearances for them.
He has enlisted the services of super-agent Pina Zahavi to engineer a move or him, and Zahavi has wasted no time in entering discussions with Chelsea chief executive Marina Granovskaia.
Frank Lampard in his short time in charge at Stamford Bridge has already acquired a reputation for being willing to give youth a chance at senior level, and it is thought that he could offer Gomes the speedy progression he feels he is being denied by United.
Gomes was born in London and his family still lives there which would make any move easier for him.
