Liverpool striker Sadio Mané is set to be given a lucrative new contract to fend off the attentions of Real Madrid.
The Spanish club have long had an interest in signing the 28 year old but now Liverpool are looking to end such speculations once and for all by offering him a bumper new deal, despite the fact that he only signed a five year deal with them as recently as November 2018.
The captain of Senegal had been in fine form before the suspension of the season, scoring 18 goals and 12 assists, helping his side to the verge of the title. The current African Footballer of the Year, he was also voted the world’s fourth best player at the Ballon D’Or ceremony last year.
Mané joined the Reds from Southampton in 2016, and has since made 161 appearances for them, scoring 77 times. Now it looks like he could effectively end his career at Anfield, with his new contract taking him well into his 30s.
