German side Borussia Dortmund are plotting a move for Chelsea youngster Charlie Webster.
The 16 year old midfielder is one of the stars of the Chelsea academy, but now the German club have plans for him. They hope that they can repeat the trick that they managed with Jadon Sancho, unearthing young English talent and developing them into major first-team players.
Webster was voted player of the tournament at the Kevin de Bruyne under-15 cup in Belgium last year, and is progressing through the Chelsea ranks.
However, in the normal course of events, it might take him several years to be given his first-team chance at Stamford Bridge, even with Frank Lampard’s reputation for promoting youth, and Dortmund are hoping to tempt him with an offer to fast track him into the Bundesliga, much as they did with Sancho.
With the youngster potentially available in the summer, Dortmund are now poised to strike.
