Chelsea have opened negotiations about a possible transfer with Leicester City left-back Ben Chilwell.
The Stamford Bridge team are looking to bolster their defence in the summer, and have identified left-back as a priority position. Marcos Alonso, Emerson Palmeiri and captain Cesar Azpilicueta have all played their during the season, but nobody has been convincing in the role.
Both Alonso and Palmeiri have been linked with a move back to Italy and Serie A, whilst Azpilicueta’s best position is at right-back.
A number of players have been linked with the role in recent weeks, but Chilwell is their top target, especially as he has indicated a willingness to move to London.
They are by no means the only club on his trail though, with reports suggesting that he is also interesting Atlético Madrid, PSG and Manchester City.
And that means he is not likely to be cheap with Leicester looking for a similar fee of £80 million which they got from Manchester United for Harry Maguire last summer, although, given the state of the transfer market this summer, that may not be realistic.
