Arsenal are close to signing Norwegian winger George Lewis.
The 19 year old is a free agent after leaving former side Tromso, and impressed whilst on a two week trial with the Gunners in March.
Lewis has spent the past two years in Norway, but does have previous experience of English football, having had a spell with Ipswich in the past.
Born in Rwanda, he is not regarded as an immediate first-team prospect. Instead he is likely to join the under-23 development squad at the Emirates which is coached by Steve Bould.
The teenager was a guest at Arsenal’s last home game before the lockdown, the 1 – 0 victory over West Ham.
The move for Lewis is indicative of the type of business that clubs like Arsenal will be doing this summer, with free transfers and swaps very much the norm, as opposed to deals that actually involve the transfer of money.

He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
