Liverpool have requested more time from the representatives of German forward Timo Werner.
The 24 year old has been linked with a move to Anfield for some time. However, like clubs all across Europe, the prospective league champions have been hard hit financially by the coronavirus and the subsequent shutdown of football. Now they want to get a better read on what the summer transfer market will look like, before making a sizeable investment in Werner, who has a £52 million release clause in his contract.
Regarded as one of the brightest talents in German football, Werner has scored 72 goals in 118 appearances for the Bundesliga club. He is also wanted by Chelsea and Inter Milan, although Bayern Munich have been forced to cool their interest in him because of a lack of financial viability given the current climate.
Those reasons too may ultimately cost him his dream move to Merseyside.
