Tottenham have been linked with a summer move for Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic.
The 32 year old Croatian international is about to enter the final year of his contract at the Nou Camp, and the Catalans, suffering financially like many clubs because of the coronavirus pandemic, are hoping to receive a transfer fee for him, rather than see him walk away for free in 12 months’ time.
Although Atlético Madrid and Inter Milan are also interested in signing Rakitic, he is thought to favour a move to the Premier League for both sporting and economic reasons.
With the transfer market likely to be radically different because of the Covid-19 crisis, Rakitic could form part of a swap deal with Tanguy Ndombélé, who the Spaniards are also tracking.
He arrived at Spurs from Lyon in a record deal last summer, but has failed to settle at the club, and has been criticised by his manager, Jose Mourinho, for his attitude.
