Arsenal have edged ahead of Liverpool in the race to sign Chelsea winger Willian.
The 31 year old Brazilian winger is out of contract at Stamford Bridge in June, and seems set to leave the club after the two parties could not agree on the length of a proposed contract extension. He was initially heavily linked with Barcelona, but they have decided to look elsewhere because of his wage demands, with Liverpool then entering the picture with Jurgen Klopp looking to boost his squad in wide areas.
However, Arsenal are now the favourites to sign him because he is keen to stay in London, where he has lived since 2013, and now regards as his home.
They are also prepared to offer him a multi-year deal, and the chance to be reunited with former teammate and compatriot David Luiz at the Emirates.
