Arsenal midfielder Mohamed Elneny’s loan could with Beşiktaş could be extended for a further year.
The Egyptian midfielder moved to the Turkish Super Lig side last August on a season long loan, and despite an inauspicious start – he was sent off on his debut, settled well in his new environment, and had made 28 appearances for the Istanbul team and scored twice, before the suspension of football.
He had indicated previously that he would not be averse to a permanent switch to Beşiktaş if a suitable price could be negotiated, but with the summer transfer market likely to be very quiet because of the impact of the coronavirus outbreak on the football economy, swaps and loan deals are likely to be the norm as opposed to money moves,
And with Elneny unlikely to form part of Mikel Arteta’s plans at the Emirates, that could see his loan spell in Turkey in a move that would suit both clubs.
