Loris Karius is on the verge of cancelling his contract with Beşiktaş and returning to Liverpool.
The goalkeeper joined the Turkish Super Lig side in 2018 on a two year long loan after becoming surplus to requirements at Anfield over his debacle in the Champions League final. However, the German has now filed a formal complaint with FIFA, claiming that he has now been paid since the suspension of the Turkish league season last month.
This is not the first time that he has had a problem with his salary not been paid. He made a separate complaint to FIFA last season after four months’ salary was not paid on time. On that occasion the dispute was resolved, but, this time round, there appears to be no way back.
Instead, Beşiktaş are ready to terminate his contract and pay him £400,000 in unpaid salary.
Separate reports suggest that he may then go on loan to Wolves next season.
