Manchester United could miss out on their main summer transfer target, Jadon Sancho.
The Premier League clubs are favourite to sign the England winger, with reports suggesting that, before the Covid-19 outbreak put football on an indefinite hold, that they were willing to offer him a contract worth £400,000 a week.
However, he could be set to reject their overtures if the club does not quality to play in the Champions League next season.
Sancho, after a highly successful sojourn in Germany with Borussia Dortmund is likely to leave the Bundesliga, after a very productive season in which he scored 17 goals and provided 19 assists.
The former Manchester City academy graduate is ready to return to England, with both United and Chelsea leading the race for his signature.
However, the opportunity to play in Europe’s elite club competition appears to have a strong draw for him and could, ultimately, decide where he plays his football next season.
