Liverpool bosses have sought to downplay reports linking their forward Sadio Mané with a summer move to Real Madrid and are convinced that the long-term future of the Senegal international captain lies at Anfield.
Zinedine Zidane is known to be a long-standing admirer of the 28 year old and, according to reports in the Spanish media was plotting to make a bid for the striker when the transfer window open.
However, Liverpool have no plans to sell either Mané or fellow forward Mo Salah, despite the fact that both are due to miss a substantial part of next season because of the African Cup of Nations.
On the contrary, The Merseyside club want to tie down Mané, who is already under contract until 20923, to a new long-term deal.
The current African Player of the Year, Mané was having a fine season before the football shutdown, scoring 18 goals in 38 appearances.
