Manchester United are set to miss out on one of their top transfer targets, with news that Birmingham City teenage Jude Bellingham is on the verge of signing for Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund.
The 16 year old, who became the youngest ever player to appear for Birmingham last August, is highly sought across Europe, and United had been strongly linked with a move for him. Earlier this month, he and his parents visited the United training ground at Carrington accompanied by Ed Woodward, and there were reports he had been granted open access to the facilities.
However, it now looks like they are going to be pipped to the post by the German side, with reports that a deal was on the verge of being signed when the Covid-19 pandemic took hold.
Bellingham will be hoping that he can follow a similar career trajectory to Jadon Sancho in Germany, and that he will get first-team opportunities earlier than he would with a Premier League club.
