Chelsea are interested in signing West Ham and England’s Declan Rice.
The Stamford Bridge outfit were in the market for a young defensive midfielder in January, and were one of a number of clubs pursuing Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare, before the Frenchman decided to stay with the Ligue 1 club.
But now they have decided to turn their attention to Rice, who was having a fine season for the Hammers, making 29 Premier League appearances before things were brought to a halt by the Covid-19 outbreak.
Rice is very close friends with Mason Mount, and the pair found themselves in trouble when they were spotted having a kick-around in a public park when Mount was meant to be self-isolating after team mate Callum Hudson-Odoi tested positive for the virus.
The 21 year old, who has also been linked to Manchester United in the past, will not come cheap, having signed a new long-term deal with West Ham less than a year ago.
