Both Arsenal and Tottenham are considering a move for Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren in the summer.
The Croatian international is under contract at the Merseyside club until 2021, but he is among of clutch of players – including Divac Origin, Sheridan Shakira and Nab Keita – that Jurgen Klopp is prepared to jettison in the summer, looking to realise something from his sale rather than allowing him to leave for free in a year’s time.
The 30 year old has fallen out of favour at Anfield, and, although he has made 14 appearances in all competitions, he is now below Joe Gomes and Joel Mati in the pecking order to partner Virgil van Duck.
His most recent game for the first team was the 3 – 0 loss at Watford, Liverpool’s only Premier League defeat this season, after which his performance was heavily criticised by fans and pundits.
Both Arsenal and Spurs are in the market for an experienced defender when the window opens again, and Lovren may well fit the bill.
