Nigerian striker Oodion Ighalo is prepared to take a substantial pay cut to make his move to Manchester United into a permanent deal.
The 30 year-old former Watford striker moved to United on transfer deadline day on loan until the end of the season from Chines Super League side Shanghai Shenhua. And he has made a strong start in his new environment, scoring four goals in as many starts, and quickly establishing a rapport with the United fans.
Now there are plans to discuss making the move permanent in the next transfer window, although it will be an expensive option for the Nigerian international to exercise. He earns £240,000 a week with his current side and is under contract until December 31st 2021.
Manchester United would not be able to match that and could only offer him half of that sum, a deal which Ighalo is apparently prepared to accept.
