Danny Drinkwater’s future is again in doubt after he was sent home following a training ground incident.
The Chelsea midfielder joined Aston Villa on loan in January, and was taking part in a training session for those players who were not involved in the club’s 4 – 0 defeat at Leicester City on Monday night.
He and winger Jota became involved in an altercation which ended with him head-butting the Spaniard.
And now, not only are Villa ready to fine Drinkwater, but they are also considering whether to end his loan spell in the Midlands early and send him back to Stamford Bridge.
This is the latest setback for the former England midfielder, who won a Premier League winners’ medal with Leicester, but struggled to make any impression in West London after joining Chelsea in the summer of 2017.
Another loan spell at Burnley at the start of the season also went badly. He made just 2 appearances for them in six months, and was involved in a high profile fight outside a night-club which made national headlines.
