Manchester United are prepared to pay up to £70 million for Aston Villa captain Jack Grealish.
The 24 year old has been in excellent form for his club this season, scoring 9 goals and providing 8 assists in a struggling side, but, having chosen to stay loyal to them in January to aid them in their relegation fight, seems certain to leave his boyhood team, whether or not they are playing in the Premier League next season.
Currently on £60,000 a week, he knows that he could treble that if he moved to one of the big sides, and United are amongst the front runners to sign him. However, he is under contract until 2023, and, with no release clause in his present deal, any suitors, including United, know that it will take a substantial amount of money to sign a player who could yet force his way into Gareth Southgate’s England plans for Euro 2020.
