Chelsea are prepared to dramatically reduce the asking price for striker Michy Batshuayi in order to prevent him leaving the club for nothing in less than 18 months’ time.
The Belgian international was priced at £40 million in the January transfer window, but his price tag will drop in the summer anyway, as he enters into the final year of his current.
However, representatives of the player have hinted that he is happy to let his deal at Stamford Bridge run down, so that he can leave as a free agent, and secure a lucrative move to China or the Middle East.
Desperate to avoid that scenario, the West London club are now ready to drastically slash his price tag in the summer in order to attract bids for him. Batshuayi has made 13 appearances for Chelsea this season, primarily from the substitute’s bench, and has scored 6 goals for them.
