Inter Milan have made contact with Tottenham defender Jan Vertonghen about a possible move to the San Siro.
The 32 year old Belgian international is out of contract at the North London club in the summer, and, unless he signs a new deal with them, which currently looks unlikely, it means that he will be available on a free transfer.
Antonio Conté is keen to strengthen his defence, particularly as he may lose centre-half Milan Skrinlar to Manchester City, as Vertonghen is high on his shopping list, especially as he has recently lost his place in the first team under Jose Mourinho.
If he does join Inter, Vertonghen will be treading a well-worn path by Premier League players. Christian Eriksen moved to the club in January, as did both Ashley Young and Victor Moses, whilst former Manchester United Romelu Lukaku has been leading the line for them this season, and has already scored 22 goals in 33 appearances for I Nerazurri.
