Forgotten man Mario Pasalic is set to leave Chelsea for Atalanta in a £12.5 million move at the end of season.
The midfielder moved to Stamford Bridge from Hajduk Split in 2014 but has never played for the club. Instead he was sent on a series of loans, taking in Elche, Monaco, AC Milan and Spartak Moscow.
Last season he was sent on loan again, this time to Atalanta, where he helped them qualify for the Champions league for the first time in their history. He impressed so much that they took him on loan again this campaign, and now the Serie A side will make the arrangement permanent at the end of this season.
He scored the winner for them in their win over Roma on Saturday, which leaves them in pole position for another top four finish.
The departure of Pasalic will swell Chelsea’s transfer funds in the summer.
