Chelsea have already done some of their summer business early by agreeing a deal to sign forward Hakim Ziyech from Ajax.
And now they are ready to bring a new name to Stamford Bridge in the form of Uruguayan Mateo Vecino who currently plays for Inter Milan.
The 28 year old is valued at £23 million, and Chelsea are prepared to meet the price, although they could face competition for his signature from Everton, whose manager Carlo Ancelloti knows Vecino well from his time in Serie A.
Although he has featured 17 times for Inter this season, ex-Chelsea boss Antonio Conté, now in charge at Inter, is prepared to sell Vecino in the summer to help fund some of his own transfer business.
Vecino, who has 41 caps for the Uruguay national side, joined Inter in July 2017 from Fiorentina, having previously had loan spells at both Cagliari and Empoli
