Arsenal want to tie Saka down to new deal

Arsenal want to tie down teenager Bakayo Saka to a new deal at the club.

The 18 year old has been en emerging star for the club this season, having provided 8 assists and scored three goals, but with only 18 months left on his current contract, other clubs were monitoring his progress with interest, including Liverpool, Manchester United and Bayern Munich.

However, the Gunners are not prepared to let the 18 year old leave after a breakthrough season at the Emirates, which has seen the winger pressed into emergency service as a left-back, where he has shone, providing not only more assists than any other Arsenal player, but more than any than any other teenager in the Premier League this season.

He had another fine game against Newcastle United, being voted Man of the match after providing another assist for Nicolas Pépé, which involved a sublime nutmeg on a Newcastle defender.

Speaking not only about Saka but all the club’s exciting crop of young players, manager Mikel Arteta said “I am sure we will do the right thing when players deserve to improve and extend their contracts”.
