Giovani Lo Celso is close to making his move to Tottenham into a permanent deal.
The 23 year old Argentine arrived on a season long loan from Real Betis in the summer, with the deal including an option to buy him for a discounted fee of £27 million.
He endured a difficult start to his career in North London, with his progress hindered by the hip injury he picked up on international duty with Argentina, forcing him to miss two months of the season.
However, since Jose Mourinho has been in charge of the club he has become an increasing important player, and was the stand-out player in Spurs’ FA Cup draw with Southampton on Saturday, heavily involved in the build-up to their goal scored by Son Heung-min.
Afterwards his manager said “Good learner, good kid and I think by himself he made the decision that the club is going to execute the option. That’s normal, he earned it.”
