Tottenham are closing in on a surprise move for Dutch winger Steven Bergwijn, who plays for PSV Eindhoven.
The player’s agent is in England to try and negotiate a transfer for his £30 million client, who is also a target for Leicester City. Yet Spurs are emerging as the strong favourites, and, although no agreement with the North London club is yet in place, the player was left out of PSV’s line-up for their game against Twente in the Eredivisie on Sunday.
Jose Mourinho is keen to bolster his attacking options especially as Christian Eriksen’s long running transfer saga could be about to end with the player finally leaving for Inter Milan in the next few days.
Bergwijn, who is under contract with PSV until 2023 prefers to play on the left-side, although he can operate in the number 10 role as well. He has 7 international caps for the Netherlands and is likely to form part of their Euro 2020 squad.
