Tottenham have been linked with a move for Leicester City striker Islam Slimani as they seek cover for the injured Harry Kane.
The 31 year old Algerian international is currently on loan with Monaco, with Aston Villa also interested in bringing him back to the Premier League.
Jose Mourinho is desperate to boost the scoring prowess of a team that has failed to score in their last three Premier League games since Kane’s injury.
And Slimani may just fit the bill, offering a physical presence up front which Spurs have missed since Fernando Llorente left the club last summer.
Slimani was a club record signing for Leicester when he joined them for a fee of £28 million from Sporting Lisbon in 2016, but he failed to adapt to life at his new club, and, after scoring just 13 goals in 18 months, he was sent out on loan, first to Newcastle United, and then Fenerbahçe, before ending up at Monaco.
Since he has been with the Ligue 1 side, he has re-discovered his goal-scoring form, finding the net 7 times for them in 14 appearances so far.
