Arsenal are interested in signing defensive midfielder Bruno Guimarãres.
The 22 year old currently plays for Brazilian side Athletico Paranaense, and is regarded as one of the best players in his position in his native country.
He has attracted attention from a host of cubs across Europe, and Benfica have already made a bid of £17 million for him, which has been rejected.
However, his club president told the local press that they were also expecting an offer from Arsenal, and now comes reports that the Gunners Technical Director, Edu, has met with representatives from the player to try to engineer a deal.
Brazilian Edu is widely credited with having brought teenage striker Gabriel Martinelli to the Emirates, and now it is hoped that he can persuade another of his compatriots to North London, as Mikel Arteta looks to strengthen one of the areas of the team he has identified as needing reinforcements.
