Former Liverpool goalkeeper Pepe Raina is set to sign for Aston Villa for the rest of the season.
The 37 year old is currently with AC Milan but they are allowing him to leave to join the Midlands club, who are in need of goalkeeping cover after number one Tom Heaton was ruled out for the rest of the current campaign with injury.
Reina will compete with Norwegian international Orjan Nyland for the first-team goalkeeping jersey at Villa Park.
The Spanish international played for Liverpool for nine years, during which time he won the FA Cup and League Cup with the Anfield side. Villa have recruited him for his leadership skills and experience, which they hope will be valuable assets in their current fight against relegation.
He has one year left on his current deal with AC Milan, and is expected to return to the Serie A side club at the end of the season, with the future of their number one keeper Gianluigi Donnarumma in the balance.
