Manchester United have been linked with a January move for Ajax midfielder Donny van de Beek.
With Paul Pogba sidelined after his ankle surgery, United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has identified the need for midfield reinforcements in January, and, although most of the club’s top transfer targets are not available in the current window, van de Beek is seen as one who could potentially move, with Ajax vulnerable to losing some of their top players because of their exit from the Champions League.
22-year old van de Beek came through the Ajax academy and has already played 164 times for the Eredivisie club. He is also a full Dutch international, having won eight caps for his country so far.
He is valued at around £50 million and is regarded as better value for that money than some of the alternatives being considered, including Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff.
