Arsenal captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has looked to quash rumours that he could be set to quit the club this month.
Out of contract in 18 months’ time and apparently unwilling to commit to the new deal on offer at the club, there have been suggestions that the side’s top scorer was unhappy, and wanted to leave in order to play Champions League football. His potential availability has alerted top clubs across Europe to his situation, with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Inter Milan, all monitoring his situation.
For the time being though he is staying put, saying “The English press likes to talk a lot. For now, I’m here. I’m 100 per cent here.”
His new manager Mikel Arteta has already made it clear that he wants the Gabonese striker to stay at the club, and it remains to be seen if the Spaniard can convince him if his ambitions and those of the club are aligned.
Despite playing in a struggling side, Aubameyang’s thirteen league goals this season is only bettered by Jamie Vardy.
