Arsenal have been linked with a January move for Bayern Munich defender Jérôme Boateng.
The 31 year old German international has fallen out of favour at the Allianz Arena, having started less than half of the games for the Bundesliga champions this season, and wants to leave the club in the January window.
For their part, Arsenal are in the market for defensive reinforcements, after Calum Chambers was ruled out for the rest of the season with the ACL injury to his left-knee that he picked up against Chelsea. RB Leipzig’s Dayot Upamecano has been heavily linked with the Gunners but, at £12.8 million, Boateng represents a cheaper alternative.
The 2014 World Cup winner has previous experience with the Premier League as well. He spent a season with Manchester City, for whom he made 24 appearances, before transferring to Bayern in June 2011. During his time in Munich he has won seven league titles, five German Cups, and the Champions League.
