New West Ham manager David Moyes has wasted no time in drawing up plans for the January transfer window, and, top of his New Year shopping list is Chelsea striker Olivier Giroud.
Moyes was reappointed manager at the London Stadium for a second time on Sunday, less than 24 hours after the Hammers dismissed Manuel Pellegrini, with the East London side one point, and one place, above the relegation places.
He has inherited a squad short of confidence and ideas, and one of his immediate problems is a lack of goals, with record summer signing Sebastien Haller, finding the net just once in his past eleven games.
For his part, Giroud has spoken regularly about his desire to leave Chelsea in January in his bid for regular first-team football, as he fears missing out on a place in the French squad for Euros 2020 if he continues to sit on the bench as he currently does under Frank Lampard.
