Chelsea have emerged as favourites to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Jadon Sancho in the January window, pipping both Manchester United and Liverpool to the 19 year old.
Rated at £120 million, the England international has long been linked with a return to the Premier League, with United working on a deal to sign him for some time. Liverpool are also interested in signing Sancho, but the price tag is likely to deter the newly crowned Club World Cup champions.
However, Chelsea have now informed Dortmund that they are willing to meet their valuation of a player, who, a few weeks ago, set a new Bundesliga record, becoming the youngest player to reach 15 league goals, eclipsing a landmark that had stood since 1967.
The sum they are set to pay will smash Chelsea’s transfer record, with the previous highest being the £72 million they paid Atlético Madrid to sign goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
