AC Milan are interested in signing Manchester United midfielder Nemanja Matić in the January transfer window, who is also wanted by Atlético Madrid.
The 31-year old Serbian international is out of favour at Old Trafford, and has made only seven appearances for the first team this season, with Scott McTominay and Fred preferred ahead of him in central midfield. He was an unused substitute for the team that were beaten 2 – 0 by Watford at Vicarage Road on Sunday.
He has also been linked with a move to Milan’s city rivals Inter, where he could reunite with two former Manchester United colleagues in the shape of Romelu Lukaka and Alexis Sanchez.
However, AC Milan’s need for him might be the greater. On Sunday they were thrashed 5 – 0 away at Atalanta, their joint heaviest defeat ever in Serie A, and, having already been through two managers already this season they could soon be looking for a third if results do not improve.
