Liverpool are favourites to sign highly rated left-back Sam McCullum from League One side Coventry City in January.
The 19 year old has been scouted by a host of clubs, including Manchester City, Chelsea, and Leicester City, but it looks like the Anfield side are in pole position to snap up the youngster.
The teenager is a graduate of Jamie Vardy’s V9 academy, which was co-founded by the former England international with the objective of giving non-league players the chance to sign professional contracts. This is the route followed by McCullum who began his career with Kent non-league side Herne Bay before moving to Coventry in August of last year.
He made 8 appearances for the Sky Blues last season, and has gone on to turn out for them 19 times so far this, scoring his first goal for the club last month in the FA Cup first round win away at Colchester United.
Andy is an exiled English football fan living in Cyprus. He loves all sports but football is his abiding passion, and he still has dreams every now and then about scoring the winning goal in a Wembley Cup Final, even though his playing days are long gone. He follows most major leagues, across Europe at least, and has a favoured team in each. When he’s not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
