Jose Mourinho wants to bring Marouane Fellaini back to Europe.
The pair formed a close relationship whilst they were both at Manchester United together, and now reports have emerged that the Portuguese has contacted his former player to try to convince him to join him at his new club Tottenham Hotspur.
The Belgian international left United at the start of February after falling out of favour with Mourinho’s successor Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and moved to China, where he has made a big impression playing for Shandong Luneng, who finished fifth in the Super League this season, scoring 12 times in 32 games. They also reached the Chinese Cup final, losing to Shanghai Shenhua on aggregate over two legs.
He is under contract with Shandong until December 2021, but his contract includes the option for another year.
With the Chinese Super League now at an end, Fellaini is back in Europe until it resumes again in February, so he has time to consider his future options.
