Christian Eriksen’s chances of selection under Jose Mourinho could be reduced because of the ongoing speculation about his future at the club.
The Dane has been locked in a contractual stand-off with the club, and, out of contract next summer, he has so far refused to sign a new deal, after agitating for a move away from the team in the last transfer window.
There were hopes that he could be persuaded to stay at White Hart Lane with the changing of the managerial guard, but comments made by Mourinho seems he is still likely to leave as a free agent at the end of the season.
The Portuguese said: My decisions about starting him or not starting, selecting or not select, will be based on a perspective of a future”.
Eriksen came on as a second-half substitute on Saturday, as Mourinho got his career with his new club off to a winning start, with a 3 -2 win at West Ham, Spurs first away win since January. He also made an impact from the bench on Tuesday as his side came from behind to beat Olympiakos in the Champions League.
