Manchester United are ready to extend the contract of Eric Bailly, despite the fact that he has yet to play a single minute for them this season.
Bailly, who joined the club three years ago, is out of contract next summer, but United are keen to protect the value of their investment, in the hope that he can get his career at Old Trafford back on track after a series of injuries.
Since joining the club from Villarreal in June 2016 for a fee of £30 million, Bailly has managed just 50 appearances for United, and is currently sidelined with the knee injury he picked up in a pre-season match with Spurs.
However, with the defender linked with a move to Arsenal, United want the 25-year old to sign a contract extension, rather than allow him to walk away for free when his current deal expires at the end of June next year.
