Emery job not at risk

Unai Emery’s position at Arsenal manager is not at risk, despite large sections of the fan base calling for him to be sacked.

The Gunners boss is under pressure after a poor end to the last campaign, and a dismal start to this season, and Saturday evening’s defeat away at Leicester City leaves them eight points adrift of the race for the top four.

However, despite the clamour from their supporters, the club’s board are not going to be panicked into sacking the Spaniard, and insist that he has the 100% backing of the club hierarchy.

There is though an acknowledgement that results need to improve, with Champions League qualification regarded as a key target for the man who succeeded Arsène Wenger 18 months ago.

The news is likely to infuriate many Gunners fans who believe Emery should go immediately, not just because of the poor results on the pitch, but because of his failure to get the team playing with any sort of obvious identity.
