If Chelsea are successful in having their transfer ban lifted in January, then Lazio midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic will top Frank Lampard’s shopping list.
The Serbian international, who has also been heavily linked with Manchester United in the past, is rated at £70 million, but that is unlikely to deter Chelsea who could have a substantial sum to spend in January if their ban is lifted.
The club’s appeal against the FIFA-imposed sanction will be heard on November 20th by CAS (The Court of Arbitration for Sport), and Chelsea officials are confident that they will get the interdiction lifted.
The signing of Milinkovic-Savic, who helped his club win the Coppa Italia last season, would give Lampard more options in midfield, and would provide added experience to help the team’s younger stars.
The Serb has made 136 league appearances for the Serie A side since joining from Belgian club Genk, scoring 23 goals in the process.
