Manchester United are the latest club to express an interest in Burnley winger Dwight McNeil.
The 19 year old has been linked with a move to a number of other Premier League clubs ahead of January’s transfer window, with Wolves prominent amongst the sides interested in signing the player who is rated at £35 million.
However, United are now monitoring his progress as well, and have sent scouts to watch the under-21 international on a number of occasions.
Ironically enough, McNeil is a player that some at United already know well. He was a member of their Academy until he was 14 before he was released on the grounds that he was not up to the required standard and was poor at set-pieces.
Despite the set-back, McNeil, who went on to thrive in the less-pressurised environment of Burnley, remains a huge United fan.
He has started all eleven of Burnley’s games this season, scoring once.
