Arsenal have reportedly promised Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a promise that they will consider offers for him in the summer if the club fail to return to the Champions League next season.
The Gabonese striker is out of contract at the Emirates in 2021, and although he has been offered a new deal by the club, he has so far failed to put pen to paper, preferring to wait to see how the team progresses before committing himself.
Now Arsenal chiefs have apparently agreed that he could be sold to Real Madrid next summer if the club misses out on the top four again, with James Rodriguez possibly included in the deal to lower the price for the Spanish club.
On the pitch meanwhile, Aubameyang has been named as the new Arsenal club captaincy, after the armband was stripped from Swiss international Granit Xhaka following his outburst when he was substituted against Crystal Palace.
