Barcelona are prepared to allow midfielder Carles Alena, who is a target for Spurs, to leave on loan in January.
Spaniard Alena has played just 45 minutes of first-team football this season, on the opening weekend of the season against Athletic Bilbao, and with the play desperate for more regular involvement, Barcelona have recognised that it is in the best interests of all parties for them to sanction a loan move.
Tottenham have been monitoring Alena’s situation for some time, with Mauricio Pochettino reputed to be a keen admirer of the 21 year old, and may now step up their interest in a bid to attract him to White Hart Lane when the transfer window re-opens again.
Spurs are looking for a replacement for Christian Eriksen, who is certain to leave the club next summer when his contract expires, if not earlier in January if they can find a buyer, and believe Alena could be the man to fit the bill.
