Mesut Ozil is being linked with a move to the MLS, as his situation at Arsenal becomes increasingly toxic.
Ozil has been frozen out of the first team picture under Unai Emery, amidst continuing reports of training ground disagreements with his Spanish manager.
With the Gunners lacking creativity in the midfield, his absence from the team has caused a huge division amongst the fan base, who are increasingly starting to turn against Emery for his lack of discernible style of play. Sunday’s home draw with Crystal Palace was a prime example as fans turned on the manager after the side threw away a two goal early lead.
Emery’s recent comments that it is club strategy not to pick the squad’s highest earner on £350,000 a week has only added to the speculation and disharmony.
Now comes news that DC United of the MLS may be willing to offer Ozil an escape route away from the Emirates. The Washington-based club are looking for a new marquee player to replace Wayne Rooney who ended his spell with them to recently to return to England as player-coach with Derby County.
